Photography Workshop: "Expanding Personal Vision"

CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

This intensive seven-day workshop provides a unique opportunity for photographers to expand their personal vision in one of Greece’s most attractive Aegean islands. Photographers will adore the light conditions that create a relaxing and bright atmosphere.
The workshop will take place within the framework of the Antiparos International Photo Festival (July, 6 – 13)

Participants will be practicing photography on a daily basis and refine their portfolio editing skills in an idyllic environment in seaside surroundings, with all the necessary ingredients for a lifetime creative experience. They are expected to produce a small new series that will be presented on the closing day of the Antiparos International Photo Festival.

METHODOLOGY
This is a workshop that stimulates and encourages photographers to work outside their comfort zone and make photographs that go beyond the travel snapshot or aesthetic.

The workshop includes daily photo – practice, reviewing in depth and editing – sequencing the work produced each day. Participants will also attend lectures on contemporary photography, which are designed to provide food for thought and inspiration for image making. We will devote two lectures to photo-books, where we are going to discuss many of the editing – sequencing issues that are involved in contemporary photography.

The participants are encouraged to explore and develop their
own photographic interests and engage actively in discussions about contemporary photography practice. Assignments will be given when needed.

Each participant will have to devote 3 to 4 hours daily to his/her practice (shooting – editing). The workshop instructors are responsible for providing attention specially tailored to the level of each participant.

Participants will have the opportunity to arrange 1 personal meeting with one of the instructors to discuss their portfolio. They are also welcomed to participate in an extra 2 hours night photography excursion.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
The workshop is open to a max. of 10 participants.

EXHIBITION OF THE PARTICIPANTS WORK
Upon completion, participants will present their work in a screening on the closing day of the Antiparos International Photo Festival in the ANTI Art Gallery in the Castle.

WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS
Kostas Ioannidis, Eleni Mouzakiti, Lila Zotou.

Eleni Mouzakiti (MA, PhD), Lila Zotou (MA) are experienced artists – photographers, editors and curators, and will be responsible for the daily photo-practice, the critique – editing sessions of the participants work and the portfolio development. Kostas Ioannidis (MA, PhD), who lectures on art history and theory as well as photography history and theory at the Athens School of Fine Arts will be lecturing on various art and photography history and theory issues and will be participating in the portfolio and critique editing sessions.

PARTICIPATION FEE: € 580. This amount does not include the accommodation costs nor the travel costs or any travel insurance.
