Afternoon Walk in Lefkes valley

On Thursday 21/8, join us on a cool, late-afternoon walk for all in the valley and hills of Lefkes!

Starting from Lefkes, the island's old capital at 220 m, we will be walk on the hills over the village and down to the 17th c. Monastery of Aghia Kyriaki, where we 'll pause for a snack break. Then, through the dirt road in the valley, we will move on higher ground to enjoy the view to the plain of Marpissa and beyond to Naxos island from the peak over the monastery at 320 m. Continuing on narrow dirt tracks, we come across the stone-paved Byzantine Trail. After covering approx. two-thirds of the Prodromos-Lefkes Byzantine Trail, we find ourselves back in Lefkes, where one can opt for returning to Parikia, a tour of the picturesque village by night... or maybe a dinner at one of the village tavernas!

Departure from Lefkes bus stop at 17:20 h.

Distance 9.5-10 km, duration 3 h (incl. snack break), net elevation 100 m, easy terrain.
