Event Description

Come and join us for a 7 days yoga holiday on the beautiful Greek islands Paros.

Basic Hatha Yoga classes based on the system of mr B.K.S. Iyengar, but with a softer approach. Small groups of maximum 11 persons ensure that you will get a lot of personal attention and correction. Therefor the classes are suitable for all levels, also for beginners and those without yoga experience. The exercises will be adapted to your personal level. Teacher Oona Giesen  will guide you through the foundations of body alignment and breath work. During the classes props (belts, blocks, bolsters, pillows, wooden back band arches, hammocks) will be used to adapt the practice to your individual needs. Classes are focused on deepening your individual awareness and understanding of your body and the relationship between mind, body and breath. You don't need to bring anything with you; everything needed is for the  yoga classes is there. Classes are in English, 5 mornings for 2.5 hour and 4 evenings for 1.5 hour. Wednesday is a day free for yourself, no classes. Enough time left to enjoy the beautiful island, the sun, the sea and the Greek lifestyle. The yoga studio is located 100 meter from the sea.

Teacher Oona Giesen started with yoga in 1973, at the age of 8, together with her mother Jeanne Buntinx, who was trained in India by mr Iyengar personally and was one of the first yoga teachers in the Netherlands. Oona has 40 years of yoga experience, is teaching for 20 years and started the first yoga-school on the Greek island Paros. Oona had a very serious car accident in 1998 in which she broke her spine. No doctor thought she should survive or ever walk again. But since then she recovered herself extremely well with yoga. She became expert by experience in managing back pain with yoga. Oona is a member of de VYN ( Vereniging van Yoga leraren Nederland), of the YAI (Yoga Aliance International)  and of the IYF  (International Yoga Federation.)
