I was born in Dinard France in 1954. During my schooling I took drawing lessons at the École des Beaux Arts in Rennes. I later continued with a correspondence course in fine art, and also completed a sewing and modelling course, in order to become a fashion designer.
In the 1970’s I moved to Cologne, Germany and worked as a costume designer for the Theater der Keller. I continuedto study as a teaching assistant at the Kunsthochschule (Fine Art School) , where I experimented with different techniques in painting.
I have lived on Paros for 28 years. Here I find inspiration as well as a wide variety of local materials (natural pigments, marble dust etc.)
I have exhibited my painting on several occasions, and in this show I am exhibiting my wood sculptures for the first time. I have always had an affinity with wood and threeyears ago I began working in this material. I use different types of wood, but eucalyptus wood has become the most prevalent. I like its colours and warmth. Each type of wood is unique, yet they all share, one could say, a family resemblance. I let myself be guided by the wood itself, its grain and appearance, and suddenly a form or an object will appear. In my work here there is a certain progression, beginning with the Kouros Modigliani , and ending with my latest piece, The Lady Tree. In this linearity one can detect my movement and attraction to art nouveau I am addicted to wood, and have also worked extensively withfurniture pieces.
I am an autodidact; for most of the different media I use, I make my own tools.
Finally, I want to say that this exhibition has been made possible thanks to the generosity and support of my friends.
